Operation Midnight Climax was an illegal mind-control research sub-project of the CIA's Project MKUltra that began in the 1950s. Run by the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, the operation involved using CIA-run safehouses in San Francisco and New York to dose unwitting citizens with LSD and other substances, often using sex workers to lure targets. The project aimed to study the effects of mind-altering drugs for interrogation and mind-control purposes.
