The Oklahoma City bombing was a domestic terrorist attack carried out on April 19, 1995, when anti-government extremists Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols detonated a truck bomb outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The explosion killed 168 people, injured over 680 others, and destroyed or damaged hundreds of buildings, making it the deadliest act of homegrown terrorism in United States history.
