Nora Volkow, M.D., is a Mexican-American psychiatrist and neuroscientist currently serving as the Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of Health. Her pioneering work in brain imaging has been instrumental in demonstrating that drug addiction is a chronic disease of the brain rather than a lack of willpower.
