Neural accommodation

Topic

Neural accommodation (or neuronal accommodation) is a physiological process that occurs when a neuron or muscle cell is depolarized by a slowly rising electrical current. This gradual depolarization prevents the cell from firing an action potential by allowing voltage-gated sodium channels to inactivate and potassium channels to open before the threshold is reached.
