The nervous system is a highly complex biological system in animals that coordinates actions and sensory information by transmitting signals to and from different parts of the body. It detects environmental changes and works in tandem with the endocrine system to respond to these events. In vertebrates, it is structurally divided into the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
