Natural killer cells

Topic

Natural killer cells, also known as NK cells, are a type of cytotoxic lymphocyte critical to the innate immune system. They provide rapid responses to virus-infected cells and tumor formation, acting analogously to cytotoxic T cells in the adaptive immune response. Representing 5–20% of all circulating lymphocytes in humans, they belong to the family of innate lymphoid cells.
