Narcissism is a self-centered personality style characterized by an excessive preoccupation with oneself and one's own needs, often at the expense of others. Named after the Greek mythological figure Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection, it has evolved into a widely studied psychological concept. It exists on a spectrum ranging from healthy self-love to pathological personality disorders.
