Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune and demyelinating disease in which the immune system attacks myelin, the protective insulating cover of nerve cells in the central nervous system. This damage disrupts the nervous system's ability to transmit signals, leading to a wide range of physical and mental symptoms such as muscle weakness, vision loss, and coordination difficulties.
