Topic
A monastic lifestyle, or monasticism, is a religious way of life in which individuals renounce worldly pursuits to devote themselves fully to spiritual work. This ascetic practice is central to many religious traditions, most notably within Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Jainism. Practitioners, typically referred to as monks or nuns, often live in secluded communities such as monasteries or as solitary ascetics.
