The Mid-Atlantic Ridge is a vast mid-ocean ridge located along the floor of the Atlantic Ocean, forming part of the longest mountain range in the world. It is a divergent tectonic plate boundary that separates the Eurasian and North American plates in the North Atlantic, and the African and South American plates in the South Atlantic. Most of the ridge lies deep underwater, though it rises above sea level in several locations, most notably in Iceland.
