Mastery-based learning is an instructional strategy and educational philosophy that requires students to achieve a high level of competence in prerequisite knowledge before advancing to new material. Under this model, students receive individualized support, flexible pacing, and repeated opportunities to demonstrate mastery through assessments. If a student does not initially meet the mastery threshold, they are provided with targeted remediation and additional instruction until they succeed.
