Lunar water is water that is present on the Moon, primarily in the form of ice located in permanently shadowed craters at the lunar poles and as trace hydration in lunar soil. The discovery and study of lunar water have motivated numerous space missions, as it is considered a critical resource for making long-term human habitation and future deep-space exploration feasible.
