Louisiana is a state located in the Deep South and South Central regions of the United States, bordered by Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi. It is known for its unique multicultural heritage, particularly French, Spanish, African, and Native American influences, which are reflected in its distinct Creole and Cajun cultures. It is also the only U.S. state to use political subdivisions termed parishes instead of counties.
