Locus of control is a psychological concept referring to the degree to which individuals believe they have control over the outcomes of events in their lives, as opposed to external forces. Developed by Julian B. Rotter in 1954, it distinguishes between an internal locus, where one believes their own actions determine outcomes, and an external locus, where outcomes are attributed to outside factors like luck, fate, or others.
