Lithium is a chemical element with the symbol Li and atomic number 3. It is a soft, silvery-white alkali metal that is the least dense of all metals and the least dense solid element under standard conditions. Highly reactive and flammable, lithium is widely used in rechargeable batteries, ceramics, glass, and psychiatric medications.
