Lights-out manufacturing, also known as a dark factory, is an industrial methodology where the production of goods is fully automated, requiring no on-site human labor. These facilities are designed to operate independently of human presence, allowing them to run continuously and literally "with the lights off." While many modern factories utilize partial lights-out shifts, fully autonomous operations rely heavily on advanced robotics, computer numerical control (CNC) systems, and digital monitoring.
