L-DOPA, also known as levodopa, is a dopaminergic medication and biochemical precursor that crosses the blood–brain barrier and is converted into dopamine in the brain. It is primarily used to treat Parkinson’s disease, often in combination with carbidopa or benserazide, and is also used for some other dopamine-responsive disorders.
