Keith Raniere is the founder and leader of NXIVM, an organization outwardly presented as a self-help group that was secretly a sex cult. He established a hierarchy of "masters" and "slaves" within the group, where women were assaulted and branded with his initials. He has since been convicted and imprisoned for his actions leading the cult.
