John N.T. “Jack” Shanahan is a retired lieutenant general of the United States Air Force. He was the inaugural director of the U.S. Department of Defense Joint Artificial Intelligence Center and previously led the Algorithmic Warfare Cross-Functional Team, known as Project Maven.
