Joanna Kakissis is an international correspondent for NPR based in Kyiv, where she leads the network’s bureau and coverage of Russia’s war on Ukraine. Born in Greece and raised in North and South Dakota, she began her journalism career at The News & Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina, and has also taught journalism at Princeton University.
