James Dewey Watson was an American molecular biologist, geneticist, and zoologist who co-discovered the double helix structure of DNA in 1953. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1962 alongside Francis Crick and Maurice Wilkins for their discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids.
