This Adelphi book examines Iraq’s trajectory after the 2003 invasion and the legacy of the subsequent intervention and state-building efforts. It analyzes the insurgency, civil war, the U.S. counterinsurgency surge, reconstruction of Iraqi state capacity, and the country’s movement toward a new authoritarianism.
