Incentive alignment
Topic
Incentive alignment is the process of designing systems, contracts, or institutions so that the self-interested actions of individual agents naturally lead to outcomes that are optimal for the system or principal as a whole. It is a foundational concept in economics, game theory, and mechanism design, commonly used to resolve the principal–agent problem and mitigate issues like moral hazard and adverse selection. By structuring rewards, penalties, and information flows, incentive alignment ensures that participants are motivated to act in accordance with collective or organizational goals.
