In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process of fertilisation in which an egg is combined with sperm outside the body, "in glass". The procedure involves monitoring and stimulating a person's ovulatory process, removing eggs from the ovaries, and letting sperm fertilise them in a laboratory culture medium. The fertilised egg undergoes embryo culture before being transferred into the uterus with the goal of establishing a successful pregnancy.
