ImageNet is a large-scale visual database designed for visual object recognition software research, containing over 14 million hand-annotated images organized according to the WordNet hierarchy. Established by computer scientist Fei-Fei Li and her team, the dataset played a pivotal role in the deep learning revolution by serving as the benchmark for the ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC).
