Hyperglycemia, also known as glucose overload or high blood sugar, is a physiological state characterized by an abnormally high concentration of glucose in the blood. It is typically defined as a fasting blood glucose level exceeding 125 mg/dL or a postprandial level exceeding 180 mg/dL. This condition is a hallmark of diabetes mellitus and can lead to serious acute and chronic complications if left unmanaged.
