Holy Fire

The Holy Fire is an annual ceremony that takes place at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem on Great Saturday, the day before Orthodox Easter. During the ritual, the Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem enters the tomb of Jesus and emerges with a fire believed by Orthodox Christians to be miraculously ignited by the Holy Spirit. This flame is then distributed to the gathered faithful and flown to various Orthodox nations around the world.
