High-altitude nuclear tests
Topic
High-altitude nuclear tests are nuclear weapons detonations conducted within the upper layers of the Earth's atmosphere or in outer space. Primarily carried out by the United States and the Soviet Union between 1958 and 1962, these tests aimed to investigate the military and scientific effects of nuclear explosions in near-space environments, including the generation of powerful electromagnetic pulses (EMP) and artificial radiation belts.
