Hair loss drug
Topic
A hair loss drug is a medication used to prevent, slow down, or reverse hair thinning and baldness, primarily targeting conditions like androgenetic alopecia (pattern baldness) and alopecia areata. Common clinically approved treatments include minoxidil, a topical vasodilator that stimulates hair follicles, and finasteride, an oral 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that reduces levels of the hair-thinning hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Newer systemic treatments, such as JAK inhibitors like baricitinib, are also utilized to manage autoimmune-related hair loss.
