The Global South is a term used to group countries based on socioeconomic and political characteristics, generally referring to developing, less developed, or underdeveloped nations. It broadly encompasses regions in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia (excluding Japan, South Korea, and Israel), and Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand). The concept is often contrasted with the Global North, highlighting disparities in wealth, industrialization, and global influence.
