Giant Sloth
Topic
Giant sloths, commonly known as ground sloths, are a diverse group of extinct mammals belonging to the superorder Xenarthra. Ranging in size from small dog-sized animals to massive beasts as large as modern elephants, they primarily inhabited the Americas before going extinct at the end of the Pleistocene epoch. Unlike their modern tree-dwelling relatives, these prehistoric sloths lived on the ground and played a significant role in their ancient ecosystems.
