The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is a disabled nuclear power plant located in the towns of Ōkuma and Futaba in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. First commissioned in 1971, the plant suffered major damage and multiple reactor meltdowns following a massive earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011. It is currently undergoing a complex, multi-decade decommissioning process.
