Fat and Blood: An Essay on the Treatment of Certain Forms of Neurasthenia and Hysteria is a 19th-century medical treatise by American physician Silas Weir Mitchell. Published in 1877, it describes his influential “rest cure,” combining enforced rest, increased nutrition, massage, and related treatments for patients diagnosed with neurasthenia and hysteria.
