Essential fatty acids

Topic

Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are fatty acids required by humans and other animals for normal physiological function that cannot be synthesized by the body. Because they cannot be produced internally, they must be obtained through dietary sources or supplements. The two primary essential fatty acids for humans are alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3 fatty acid) and linoleic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid).
