The Energy Hierarchy is a classification of energy options prioritized to assist progress toward a more sustainable energy system. Similar to the waste hierarchy, it structures energy priorities by placing energy saving and energy efficiency at the top, followed by the utilization of renewable energy sources, and conventional fossil fuels at the bottom.
