Endocannibalism is the practice of consuming the flesh of a deceased person from one's own community, tribe, or social group. Typically performed as a mortuary ritual, it is often associated with veneration of the dead, the transmission of their life force, or the symbolic integration of the deceased back into the community. This practice contrasts with exocannibalism, which involves consuming individuals from outside groups, such as enemies.
