Emotional Sensitivity
Topic
Emotional sensitivity, often scientifically conceptualized as sensory processing sensitivity (SPS), is a temperamental or personality trait characterized by an increased sensitivity of the central nervous system and a deeper cognitive processing of physical, social, and emotional stimuli. Individuals with this trait exhibit heightened emotional reactivity, greater awareness of environmental subtleties, and a tendency to process information more deeply. It is a naturally occurring variation in temperament rather than a psychological disorder.
