Elizabeth A. Phelps is the Pershing Square Professor of Human Neuroscience at Harvard University and a leading expert on the cognitive neuroscience of emotion. She is best known for her research on the role of the amygdala in emotional learning and her extensive studies on the accuracy and persistence of flashbulb memories following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
