Electric Propulsion
Topic
Electric propulsion encompasses spacecraft propulsion systems that use electrical energy to accelerate and expel propellant, generating thrust through electric or magnetic fields. While they offer a much higher specific impulse and propellant efficiency compared to chemical rockets, their low thrust makes them unsuitable for launching from Earth's surface, making them ideal instead for long-duration deep space missions and satellite attitude control.
