Ecological collapse
Topic
Ecological collapse, or ecosystem collapse, refers to a rapid and drastic reduction in the carrying capacity of an ecosystem, leading to a significant loss of its defining biotic and abiotic features. While it does not necessarily mean the total disappearance of all life from an area, it results in a severe decline in biodiversity and a fundamental shift in the ecosystem's structure. This phenomenon is often driven by human activities, habitat destruction, climate change, and overexploitation of natural resources.
