Cortico-basal ganglia-thalamo-cortical loop
Topic
The cortico-basal ganglia-thalamo-cortical loop (CBGTC loop) is a system of neural circuits in the brain that connects the cerebral cortex, basal ganglia, and thalamus. This pathway plays a crucial role in regulating motor control, cognitive processes, and emotional behavior. Dysregulation within this loop is strongly associated with movement disorders like Parkinson's disease, as well as psychiatric conditions such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and ADHD.
