A Dyson swarm is a hypothetical megastructure consisting of a vast number of independent, solar-powered satellites orbiting a star in a dense formation to capture its energy output. It represents the most practical and physically plausible variant of Freeman Dyson's original 'Dyson sphere' concept, avoiding the extreme gravitational and structural stresses of a solid shell. Such a system would allow an advanced spacefaring civilization to harness nearly the entirety of their host star's power.
