Derinkuyu is an ancient multi-level underground city in Turkey, extending to a depth of approximately 85 meters. It is the largest excavated underground city in Turkey, capable of sheltering up to 20,000 people along with their livestock and food stores. Located in the Cappadocia region, it was used for centuries as a refuge during times of invasion.
