Deepfakes are synthetic media in which a person in an existing image, video, or audio recording is replaced or altered with someone else's likeness using artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques. While they can be used for creative and entertainment purposes, they also present significant challenges regarding misinformation, fraud, and non-consensual pornography.
