Culpability is a measure of the degree to which an individual or agent can be held morally or legally responsible for their actions or inactions. In legal and philosophical contexts, it implies that a person is justly to blame for their conduct, typically requiring proof of voluntary, intentional, or reckless behavior. Except in cases of strict liability, the severity of legal punishment or moral condemnation generally corresponds to the agent's level of culpability.
