Constitutional AI is an artificial intelligence alignment methodology developed by Anthropic to train language models to be helpful and harmless without relying on extensive human feedback. The approach guides AI behavior using a set of written principles or a 'constitution' through a two-phase process of supervised learning (self-critique and revision) and reinforcement learning from AI feedback (RLAIF).
