Colin Powell (1937–2021) was a U.S. Army general and diplomat who served as National Security Advisor, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the first Black U.S. Secretary of State. He presented the George W. Bush administration’s case for Iraq’s alleged weapons of mass destruction to the United Nations in 2003.
