Classical conditioning is a behavioral learning procedure in which a biologically potent stimulus is paired with a previously neutral stimulus. Through this association, the neutral stimulus comes to elicit an automatic, conditioned response. First detailed by Ivan Pavlov, it is a foundational concept in behavioral psychology.
