Chimpanzee warfare refers to the coordinated, lethal intergroup conflicts observed between neighboring communities of wild chimpanzees. These violent clashes, characterized by territorial patrolling, coalitionary attacks, and lethal aggression, are studied by primatologists to understand the evolutionary origins of human warfare and territorial behavior. Notable documented occurrences include the Gombe Chimpanzee War in Tanzania and the Ngogo chimpanzee war in Uganda.
