Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is a prestigious private research university located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Established in 1900 by Andrew Carnegie, the institution is world-renowned for its programs in computer science, engineering, business, and the arts. It took its current name in 1967 following a merger with the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research.
